baguio goodies

when i got to the office this morning, i saw a red rose lying on my desk. shempre asa pa ako it's from a guy. i saw a note near it and it read

"bratty, maraming salamat sa tulong! =) - paintbrush"

Paintbrush also gave me peanut brittle. yay! her family went to Baguio last Friday but she wasn't able to go with them as we had dotNET training.

thanks Paintbrush. you're heaven sent =)

when Carambs arrived (she also went to Baguio last Friday), she gave me my ultimate Baguio goodie: Mikasan Choco Flakes. yummmmmmmm!!! i could eat the whole medium jar by myself. the last choco flakes i had (from Cereals) was finished in one sitting, around 15 minutes. whoever thought of those goodies, i bow thee.

good samaritan that i am (naks!), i shared by choco flakes with my clients and officemates.

weekend attire

ever since i saw Trager on a weekend, i became conscious of how i look on a weekend. before, this was my weekend outfit - out of fashion clothes and slippers. when i bumped into Trager that tragic weekend, i was wearing a blue sleeveless top (which i recently bought), utility jeans, and sneakers. my typical office get up. i even sprayed cologne! geez! i dunno why i "dressed" up that weekend.

now, i'm having a hard time picking out clothes. plus it consumes time! argh! kamiseta, it's not fun being a girl!

unlucky me, i didn't bump into Trager this weekend. this "dressing up" on a weekend better give positive results soon.

beep beep

Cereals: The quality of your life depends on how you love the things you do, how you do the things you love and how you love the one who loves you.

Bratty: Eh paano kung wala kang "the one who loves you?" So kelangan meron talagang "the one who loves you?" SIGH.

Cereals: Hahanap tayo ng THE ONE WHO LOVES US =)

on screen

Movie: Chicago
Tagline: If you can't be famous, be infamous.

the Witches of Eastwick planned to watch this movie together. but Jane Spofford decided not to go with us since she had a pseudo-date with the guy she likes. we understand. prospective boys first over girlfriends. so Alex (that makes me Sukie) and i headed to Megamall.

this movie is AMAZING. no wonder it won the best picture award at the recently concluded Oscar Awards. kudos to Catherine Zeta-Jones. i bow thee. i like her acting better than Renee Zellweger's =P

Chicago made me realize how much i miss watching musicals and repertory plays. i used to buy the season tickets of Repertory Philippines. i used to be itching for the next play that'll be staged after watching the currently staged play. sigh, those where the days.

i do not watch plays to make myself "cultured" but because i love the rush of raw emotions i see on stage. unlike in movies where the emotions that you see are "done deal" - edited and polished. too bad though that in plays......hmmm, i may be segueing to a "plays vs. movies" discussion and i don't want to do that so i'll end this paragraph now.

i already promised myself to watch a play soon. and that's a promise i'd loooove to make =)

what weekend?

weekend is defined as the end of the week (obviously). specifically, it is the period between the close of one working (business/school) week and the beginning of the next.

but this so-called period has been a blur lately as my office training has been eating up my saturday weekend. that leaves me a day, i repeat, a day to rest and recharge. and a day is not enough for me to rest and recharge. that's why stress took its toll and i had fever last tuesday and wednesday. i was on dequadin and biogesic overdose on those 2 days. i also drank mango-orange-banana shake (oh yummmy!) and now i'm starting to have colds. ugh!

oh, i forgot to mention that i still reported for work on those 2 days. (what?!?!?) yeah, yeah, i know i should have taken at least a day off. but mind you, i didn't have the guts to tell Crosspatch the "i'm sick, i want to go home, i need to rest" yadda yadda. not even the HR staff in the office could ask Crosspatch to let me go home and take a rest. that only goes to show how militant Crosspatch is in this office. aye aye, madam!

on second thought, my not being able to rest and recharge may be the reason why i'm so cranky lately. well, next to PMS.

Movie: Gangs of New York
Tagline: America Was Born In The Streets

Carambs gave me a free ticket for the advanced screening of Gangs of New York. (Thanks Carambs!) The tickets says "free popcorn and drinks." the besssssssstt!

i expected a bloodbath movie that would make me want to look for a 2 toothpicks to hold my eyes open. despite my seemingly ADHD behavior, i was able to focus on the movie for 2 hours and 25 minutes. the recreation of the circa 1850 new york was awesome. daniel day lewis rocks! he ruled the movie!!!! my end of the movie reaction: ASTIG. its directed by martin scorcese. 'nuff said.

here's a couple of "Gangs of New York Vocabulary" i got from their production notes:

anglers - thieves who place a hook on the end of the stick, with which they steal
autumn-divers - pickpockets who work in churches
bludget - female thief who lures victims into dark alleys to rob them
groaners - thieves who attend charity sessions then rob the group
roughs - men ready to fight any way or shape
wooden coat - coffin

(or something to that effect, hehe)

happy birthday!

happy birthday Sis! i'm sending my gift via Fr. Cousin SJ. mwah!

more info on the 8 Mile DVD

i found a review on the 8 Mile DVD over at CNN.com.

Tennis # 1

WTA just declared Serena Williams as Player of the Year. i am shocked! aghast! like there is no person right now who can beat her. what a thrill! NOT! my interest in following tennis tournaments decreased because of the supremacy of this girl.

btw, i also hate her sister. hee hee.

Milia 2003

Head Honcho's in France right now attending the MILIA 2003 Conference.

Held annually in Cannes since 1994, MILIA, the World's Interactive Content Marketplace, is the leading international trade event dedicated to digital content and interactive entertainment for all platforms. MILIA is attended by key decision makers from 50 countries representing the global community of digital entertainment.

oooh, imagine that!!! what prestige! GO BOSS! =)

Head Honcho is the only delegate from the Philippines. i bet, our competitors (rival networks and content providers) are green with envy. hehehe. bah humbug! not only that, Head Honcho is one of the keynote speakers for the interactive tv business forum. yeah! GO BOSS GO! =)

Movie: Serendipity

i watched Serendipity with Cereals, Carambs and OJT Killer last saturday due to my insistence. hehehe. i told Carambs and OJT Killer that i will not watch any movie that night except that. hee hee. so typically bratty of me =)

John Cusack is forever on my A-list but i dunno why i wasn't able to watch this movie when it was being shown in the theaters. either i was in Cebu at that time for UJAR or i was too busy doing UJAR stuff.

anyways, its your typical feel-good, romantic movie. funny, light, and dreamy. what the heck? i don't need to write a review. everybody has seen this movie except me!

i told Summer Breeze that i finally saw the movie. her reply: kakainlove! i TOTALLY agree. kakakilig grabe. if Cereals and I were the only ones watching the movie, mygawd, we'd be laughing at ourselves. we can so relate to the movie. hahahaha.

where did the week go?!?!

i'll be taking a rundown of the week that passed.

monday - today was my First Boy Godchild's birthday. i took the morning off, his mom and dad picked me up at 8am to prepare for his birthday party at school. i was soooooo excited not only because it was First Boy Godchild's birthday but i looooooove (L) kids. i truly love kids. they are all OH SO CUTE! =) sigh, i miss by bratty cousins.

Summer Breeze, Emoticons and I were still undecided up until 5pm if we were going to Tagaytay that night. it took a lot of self-convincing before we finally said: let's go! next thing we knew, we were headed to Tagaytay. we took Summer Breeze's car. Roscius went along with us. we called the car "the salingkit car" as we really had no official business going there compared to Craig David and company.

not only was it "the salingkit car", it was also "the clueless car." we didn't know how to go to Tagaytay. so we just tailed by the "official car". but since we were driving along the expressway, Emoticons had the liberty of overtaking cars right and left. next thing we know, Schumacher was calling my fone asking me if we took the Silang exit. obviously, we didn't. hahaha. it took a good 30 mins before we were "reunited" with the official car. despite the hassle, we had a fun time navigating the expressway and the exits on our own.

tuesday - what else was there to do in Tagaytay but to drink, to drink, and to drink more. the inuman ended 6am.

7 gin pomelos. 1 liter colt 45. 15 cans of san mig light. 9 people. 4 packs of cigarattes. how many brain and lung cells did we kill that night? go figure.

afraid to be caught in the office that we were in Tagaytay with no official business, the Salingkits all went to work that day. we left Tagaytay at around 9am. we arrived in the office at around 11am. pretty safe time, huh? like we never came from tagaytay =)

i knew i couldn't go home alone so i asked Denialqueen that we go home together. by 8pm, i had diagonal vision already as i didn't sleep a wink. i felt like i was about to fall down from my seat even though i knew i was sitting upright.

wednesday - i promised Cher 3 days ago that i'll accompany her get CTC. i didn't knew then that i'll be sleepless the day before. ugh! so i had to wake up early, as in 8am. good thing though that it only took a minute to process our CTC or else i'd be grumpy the whole day. yep, i got a CTC as well so that i wont have to ask Mom. good girl!

Summer Breeze, Denialqueen and I had dinner at Murasaki. i ordered yakisoba and it was pretty delicious. not bad! not too sweet, not too spicy. (ok, ok, i'm a lame critic. i dunno how to use the proper adjectives.) Emoticons texted Summer Breeze that he was in Cork with the Cool Couple and the Sexy Couple. so Summer Breeze and I went to Cork. Denialqueen had work to finish so she went back to the office.

we stayed there 1 hour max. just sat there and talked. surprisingly, i didn't order a beer. Bratinella up 10 good girl points =) i'd would have submitted myself to AA and called myself an alcoholic if i still ordered a liquor. i haven't detoxified yet all that i drank in Tagaytay and then add more to the liquor that buoys in my blood at the moment?!?!? mygawd! that would be the day!

thursday - Summer Breeze, Emoticons and I (yes, we are the latest trio to rule the world.) had dinner at Dencio's. i invited Cereals and she was on her way. we also invited the Cool Couple. Craid David said he couldn't come and was going home already. but no! Craig David showed up with his girlfriend!!! i instantly panicked as Cereals was 5 mins away. uh oh.

Cereals didn't want to eat dinner with us anymore. she wanted to go home instead. i suggested to Cereals that we talk to Emoticons since we both knew that it would be him that would give the most sensible answer in this situation. Cereals texted Emotions. no reply. I texted Emoticons. no reply also. Cereals called Emoticons. didn't answer the call. I called Emoticons. no answer also. grrrr. so i went back inside the restaurant and pulled Emoticons from our friends. Summer Breeze went out also. after a little bit of coaxing from Emoticons, Cereals finally agreed to stay. yay for Emoticons. you're our Superman!

Cereals, Emoticons, and I capped our night at Starbucks. thanks Cereals (she treated us!)! love 'em both :D (ahem, emoshun! istatue bratty?)

friday - i attended this Microsoft .NET training conducted by our Technical Account Manager. B O R I N G! he was Ibong Adarna in human flesh and form!

Denialqueen, Summer Breeze, Emoticons, Schumacher, and I had dinner together at the good, old cafeteria. except for Schumacher, we all went to Aresi as some people from the office were there. while Denialqueen mingled with our officemates, we(trio) talked among ourselves. ordered 1 beer. stayed for 1 hour. hahahaha. how anti social can we get? *weenk* part of the anti-social reason was that Flatliners was there. Summer Breeze and I are disgusted with her. on the other hand, Emoticons' boss was there. hehehe. so that's why =)

my work week revolved pretty much on the same people. hmmmmmm. am i becoming anti-social? quite. hahahahahaha =)

saturday - i still had FREAKING training. kindly remind that Jedi Master that he scheduled some of our training dates on a saturday! argh! he's killing my weekends!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i had dinner with the Witches of Eastwick at Gayuma. yummmmmy food =)

sunday - the best day of the week!!!!!!!! oh yeah!!!!!!!! i spent half the day sleeping. one-fourth of the day cleaning my closet, sweeping the room and doing my underwear laundry.

Fr. Cousin, SJ texted me if we could meet up that night as he was going back to Davao this Sunday. i agreed so i was forced to take a bath and go out of my room to buy food. ladidadida....went to Rustans....left my groceries with the guard....went to a resto....running out of time....had 15 mins before Fr. Cousin SJ's designated meeting time....told the attendant that my food was for take out.... was about to cross the street when Trager shouted "BRATTY!" that scared the shit out of me. and i was almost hit by a car because i stopped in the middle of the street. made a polite but *kilig* conversation with Trager. despite objections of my heart, i had to tell Trager "i have to go." Trager said goodbye, took 2 steps back and then spoke "btw, we didn't have internet connection last friday."

he didn't have to explain that. ho hum =) yiheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

bratinella slept a happy girl =)

watch-ing over me

i haven't been wearing a watch for the longest time. way back second year college. it was stolen from my room together with my wallet.

i've been wanting to get a watch since last year but i was never dead serious in buying one. plus i don't have the money. hahaha.

not even mom was serious in buying me a watch. i kept coaxing her to buy me and my sister a Timex watch for Christmas. but i was never successful in doing so. plus sis didn't want a watch because...oops, digressing, digressing.

while surfing niketown.com over a month ago, i saw this goddess watch. at that time, i had money so i was willing to buy it online even though it would be my first time. but no! the niketown website doesn't accept international orders. UGH!

last saturday, i was with Denialqueen, Carambs, and OJT Killer at greenhills. but of course, i couln't help myself from visiting the Nike shop there. and what did i see? 3 pieces of triax smooth in black, pink and yellow. oh gawd! my mind was doing 1,000,000 computations a second. double checking everything i have but it all boiled down to this conclusion: i don't have shopping money anymore. ARGH!!! sneeeef.

stupid me, i even tried it on. i was drawn even more to its beauty. The One Watch to Rule Bratinella.

(isn't that watch a goddess?)

i almost died when Carambs said she wants to buy the watch. thank god, she didn't buy it. i'd die of envy everytime i'd see her wear The One Watch.

update: it's june 26, 2004 now and i'm re-reading this post. i was able to buy this The One Watch. i'm adding this update because i can't remember posting that i bought this watch.

8 Mile DVD

Carambs calls me Eminem freak. So when i found out that 8 Mile will finally have a DVD, i knew i gotta HAVE a copy even if i don't have a DVD player yet.

the article doesn't talk solely about the DVD release so i'll just copy and paste the paragraph.

"Less than a week before Oscar night, "8 Mile" will hit DVD and video stores on Tuesday, March 18. "Lose Yourself," by Eminem, is nominated for best song. The DVD is already getting hype about an extra rap battle scene containing explicit language -- not that the original film doesn't contain plenty to begin with. Eminem's character, B-Rabbit, freestyle raps at his opponent in one of the film's final scenes, "In fact dog, here's a pencil, go home, write some s--t, make it suspenseful; and don't come back 'til somethin' dope hits you. F--k it, you can take the mic home wit' you."

that paragraph alone made my day. (okay, that was an exaggeration. but you get my point.)

two days after, CNN.com had an article solely about the DVD release of 8 Mile. Woooohoooooooooooo.

by the way, Carambs is my newest Eminem freak recruit. make that, my first Eminem freak recruit. 90% of her polytones are Eminem's songs. nyahahahaha =)

i just gotta put this . . .

on my playlist

Artist: Further Seems Forever

Album: How To Start A Fire

Album: The Moon is Down

when i'm using Kazaa, i have this habit of using the option "Find More From The Same User". while using Kazaa this week, i saw that this user had a couple of mp3s of this band. so i decided to check it out.

download, download, download complete!

find downloaded files and drag to current winamp playlist.

listening.................

they reminded me of Dashboard Confessional. not too soon, i found out that their former vocalist was Chris Carabba. yep, same guy of the Dashboard Confessional fame. FSF is an emo band from Florida. too bad, the emo genre has a negative connotation nowadays.

i particularly like their song Vengeance Factor. the song goes:

This plays upon my sympathies,
I shouldn't have come.
I know I should leave,
but they said,
but they said
I should see this for myself.

And now these sighs are severing.
And I was saving everything,
can't believe,
I believed,
I believed that this might help.

ooh, so for masochist me.

do check out their official website, though its kinda slow and has poor usability.

oh, i found this article, and this article about them with google's help.
